Frequently Asked Questions:
Q: How can I make an appointment to meet with my student's counselor?
A: Click on the link above to see the contact information for your student's counselor, then call or email to request an appointment. We strongly recommend scheduling an appointment rather than dropping in to the counseling office so that we can be sure to schedule enough time to address your concerns. Q: How can my student get help with their classes? A: The best way to get help in a class is to work directly with the teacher. Students can attend teacher's tutorials on Tu, Wed, and Thurs. for help or schedule another time as appropriate. There is also help available after school in the tutoring center. After school tutoring is in the library Mondays, Tuesdays, Wednesdays and Thursdays from 3:15 - 5:15. Student and adult tutors are available, or you can just use the time for quiet studying and homework. Q: How can I see how my student is doing in their classes? A; Using Parent Portal / My IUSD is the best way to keep track of your student's grades. If you need help setting up an account, please contact Arne Cohan, the counseling secretary at acohan@iusd.org. You can also use weekly progress reports to keep up to date on your student's progress. The form is provided below for you to download and use. Copies are also available in the counseling office at Mrs. Cohan's desk. |
